Hi folks Don't often come to this bit of the forum but I find myself doing a cambelt and variator change on an '02 Punto 1.8 HGT. The procedure seems all OK (I've done quite a few other Fiats now, generally 500s, Pandas, older Lampredi-based engines (e.g. Bravo/Brava 1600), and Alfa 1750 TBi - Pratola engine so similar architecture).
Ive got a X reg (2000?) Punto HGT. 1.8, 16v. Its got about 60K on the clock nearly. Handles OK actually, but the performance is very disappointing because its a 130bhp car that doesnt weight a lot. I can get 100mph easily using up to 4th gear, after about 105, change up to 5th the performance im now the proud owner of a punto hgt:D this is now my 3rd fiat.. the first being a 55s and the 2nd a MK2 sporting.. very pleased with it so far, fuel Just got myself a Punto 1.8 HGT Abarth and can't wait to get it on the road. Costing a lot with insurance etc but hopefully worth it. Here's what i boughtHi ive came to the point were i want a new car. Two cars seem to take my fancy, thay are the punto Hgt and the Gt! Im undecide of what i want! i like the looks of the hgt abarth but the potential of the Gt still makes me love them. Could anyone give me an insight, i.e which are more reliableIs the 1.8 engine in the stilo 192a 4000 the same as the Puno 1.8 hgt . I'm changing the cam belt and have the cam locking tools for the punto and want to know if the are the same as the stilo
Hi there, I have a Fiat Punto HGT 1.8 16 V It was misfiring so a garage replaced the temp valve as it was showing -35 in the fuel tank. That didn't solve it. That didn't solve it. We then got a second hand ECU from ebay with all the locks etc and it is still misfiring.
